Tightening control over imports from abroad and applying "strict" standards at border crossings

An official report issued by the Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI-ARC) revealed that, during the period from 29th January 2020 to 9th of November 2020) the institute's laboratories had examined 19,308 samples from imported animals and livestock through the Egyptian ports were examined by the institute’s laboratoriesas a part of a precautionary measures taken by all technical bodies of the Ministry of Agriculture with tightening control over all food products of animal origin to ensure that they are free from the Coronavirusto ensure that they are free the virus; explaining that the results of all examined samples were negative with tightening control over all food products of animal origin to ensure also they are free of coronavirus

This report confirmed - "Agri Today" obtained a copy ofit- that those samples are received through the Egyptian ports of (Alexandria, Port Said, Damietta and Hurghada), as well as Cairo International Airport. For examples;(14,199) samples of (feed additives, swabs, meat, milk, poultry and fish) which imported from(India, China, the European Union, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan and the Emirates) were examined at Alexandria port

for his part, Dr. MomtazShaheen, Director of the Animal Health Institute, stated to Al-Masry Al-Youm that the results of all samples were negative, explained that; 1,486 samples of (fish, liver, dairy products, swabs and natural butter)which imported from (India, China, the UAE, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Yemen, Thailand, Spain and Oman) analysis at Damietta port.
 “Shaheen” added that 2073 various samples of (fish, beef, buffalo, liver, milk that exported from (India, Brazil, the UAE, Yemen, China, Japan and Oman) were examined in Port Said port, and about 85 feed additives samples imported from (Singapore – Malaysia) at Sokhna port and also,examination of 292samples of (fish, meat, milk powder, veterinary medical supplies, cheese and intestines), imported from China, Finland, France, Italy and Ethiopia at Cairo Airport.

According to the Director of Animal Health, the sub-laboratory in Hurghada Port examined 87 samples and analyzed 962 swab samples from cats and dogs from the regions of (Heliopolis - Dokki - Mohandessin - Al Haram - El Remaya Square - Maadi and also, samples from the airport in addition to analyzing 77 samples from pregnant cattle and Breeding calves imported from America, Germany and Hungary, 12 swabs of  bat feces, nasal swabs, 25 samples of deer and goats, with total 19,308 samples examined against (COVID19) with the most accurate advanced diagnostic techniques as one of the measures to contain the disease
