The Reference laboratory for Veterinary Control of poultry production

Reference Laboratory for Veterinary Control of poultry production

Established the National Laboratory for Veterinary Control of Poultry Production in 2003 within the Animal Health Research Institute. The National Laboratory is the only entity competent to diagnose bird flu and monitor and evaluate the immunizations related to the disease in the field. The laboratory was approved in 2005 by the ISO 17025 specifications by an evaluation team from the National Office for the accreditation of laboratories recognized by the International ILAC and it was ensured that the quality system in the laboratory conformed to the administrative and technical requirements and use The latest standard methods of testing and the latest laboratory equipment and their calibration to ensure accuracy of measurement as well as to ensure the efficiency of personnel working as the laboratory provides the appropriate environment to perform the tests

Duties and services

The factory undertakes veterinary control work on poultry production to ensure that there are no health problems of economic importance and in a manner that meets the standards of standard quality and bio-security, and for this purpose:

Examination of eggs from poultry and chickens origins, a day's life from ancestral herds, laying mothers and imported and locally produced meat mothers, and issuing health certificates in accordance with local and international standards

Applications are submitted to the National Laboratory for Veterinary Control of Poultry Production to examine samples of poultry goods to be exported and who performs the necessary checks in accordance with international standards and protocols

Carrying out periodic inspection of poultry projects with all their activities to ensure that they are free of pathogens at time intervals consistent with the productive cycle of each activity (ancestral herds, white mothers, broiler mothers, broiler herds, hatcheries and laboratories attached to these activities) and issuing health reports

Examination of foods of poultry origin of pathogens

Solve field problems facing the poultry industry in Egypt and provide technical advice through field visits to discover the pathogens

Future vision for the Reference laboratory

Attention to common diseases between humans and birds by training technical and research cadres in the field of laboratory diagnostics and conducting epidemiological studies and preventive medicine and setting the necessary procedures to limit the spread of these diseases.

The optimal use of infrastructure from equipped laboratories that can serve all specialties in order to provide laboratory services for all units

Developing administrative systems (human resources - purchases - supportive technical services - stores) in order to provide the appropriate environment for the completion of works and to preserve the available buildings, devices, means of transportation, etc.

In the context of the efforts exerted by the Reference Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture to reduce the imminent danger to human and poultry health from the transmission of bird flu infections and to prepare for and control the spread of influenza and other contagious diseases among individuals and in order to develop the performance of the Reference laboratory to carry out the tasks assigned to it, it was necessary Create an integrated database for the Reference laboratory and its branches in the governorates
